The Harbin Trade Fair also provides the local tourism industry with a golden opportunity to promote its resources.
Heilongjiang province has a wide range of tourism possibilities, with the Mohe Arctic Village, Fuyuan East End of China, the Yichun Pine Hometown and the Wudalianchi Natural Volcanic Museum among the top attractions.
At the same time many of China's tourism resources were over exploited, the ecology Heilongjiang province has remained largely intact due to is distant location, challenging climate and financial shortages.
Although the tourism sector has increasingly contributed to the province's GDP growth in recent years, its natural resources remain well preserved.
Using modern scientific measures, the mountains and rivers in Heilongjiang are now being carefully developed as tourist sites.
This year's Harbin Trade Fair opens during the prime tourist season in the Heilongjiang summer, so promotion of the tourism industry will be a major feature of the fair.
A number of scenic sites and tourist attractions in the province are now under development and renovation, including the North Country Special Tourism Development Zone and the Harbin Summer Capital of Ice.
