The Expo site drew some 370,000 visitors by 7pm yesterday, the last day of the three-day Dragon Boat Festival. Smooth order was announced by the organizers.
About 133,000 were on tour groups, and around 60,000 visitors used free tickets Shanghai government distributed to local residents.
As of 7pm, 35,673 tickets were sold on site, with 14,183 night admissions.
Houtan Gate received about 71,000 visitors yesterday, Changqing Road 52,000, and Shangnan Road, Gaoke Road W. about 11,800 in total.
By 5pm, 89 shows were staged, attracting 108,000 spectators. A total of 6,332 volunteers served on the site.
Today is the first work day after the festival break. The site is estimated to receive 400,000 visitors, with 160,000 group tourists. Heavy traffic is forecast at the entries on the Pudong side of the Expo during the morning rush hour from 9am to 11am. The less-crowded Madang Rd and Bansongyuan Rd gates in Puxi are expected to provide relatively quicker access. Visitors are advised to arrange visiting schedules accordingly.
