Iraq celebrated its Pavilion Day with music performance at Expo Center yesterday afternoon.
Iraqi artists, who had just arrived at Shanghai at noon, played traditional music. Chinese physically disadvantaged artists also performed.
The Iraq Pavilion is at Zone A. Iraq is the origin of ancient Mesopotamian culture and the Babylonian Empire and boasts one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World -- the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. It was also the birthplace of the first law code, "The Code of Hammurabi." These great achievements are reflected in the pavilion's exhibits.
At the heart of the exhibition area, children will be pleased to find a familiar scene from "1001 Arabian Nights." A beautiful queen sits on the carpet and tells stories to the king while a genie eavesdrops from the ceiling, and the movie "Aladdin and the Magic Lamp" is played on the screen.
